Facings

Screw-holes can be temporarily repaired using composite, which can sometimes result in a permanent solution, e.g., in the rear bicuspid or molar areas. A better solution, though, is to let a technician produce new facings. There are two alternatives:
  1. Plastic facings, which are cheapest, but which can become discoloured after a year or two.
  2. Ceramic facings, which are more expensive, but considerably more durable and elegant.

Over the past five years I have had good results when changing the facings of old gold-acrylic bridges. These have included facings that have become discoloured and those that have become abraded.
